Two Branches, One Mission

Providence Hill Counseling & Consulting

Co-founded by Dr. Ginavra Gibson and Robert Gibson, Providence Hill Counseling & Consulting provides professional counseling, clinical supervision, and consultation. This branch supports clients, developing counselors, leaders, and organizations with evidence-based care, reflective supervision, innovative leadership and organizational strategies, and trauma-informed guidance.

Providence Hill Institute

Also co-founded by Dr. Ginavra Gibson and Robert Gibson, Providence Hill Institute expands this mission by offering training, continuing education, and leadership development for mental health providers, churches, businesses, and organizations. Through virtual and in-person programs, the Institute equips teams and leaders with tools to build healthy workplaces, prevent burnout, and strengthen cultural humility.

Together, Providence Hill Counseling & Consulting and Providence Hill Institute form a comprehensive hub for growth and wellness; supporting individuals, leaders, and organizations through both clinical care and professional training.

About Dr. Ginavra Gibson

Ginavra Gibson, Ph.D., LPC, LPCS, NCC, ACS, C-DBT is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with a rich background in clinical practice, leadership, higher education, and organizational consulting. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands, a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling, and a Bachelor of Science in Family and Church Education from Columbia International University. She also completed a Post-Master’s Certificate in Mental Health Policy and Practice from Northcentral University, deepening her expertise in systems of care, finance, and leadership.

Dr. Gibson is trained in a wide range of evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), EMDR, and Crisis Counseling. Her trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach reflects both her clinical expertise and her commitment to equity and inclusion.

In addition to private practice and supervision, Dr. Gibson has served as both Clinic Director and Program Directorwithin South Carolina’s Department of Mental Health. In these leadership roles, she oversaw large teams of counselors in rural, suburban, and inner-city settings, managed programs serving thousands of clients, and collaborated with psychiatrists and administrators to ensure high-quality care. She also developed and implemented effective policies, training initiatives, and innovative clinical programs that strengthened mental health services across diverse communities.

Dr. Gibson currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Counselor Education and Supervision, teaching and mentoring graduate and doctoral students while remaining actively engaged in research. Her scholarship and professional interests include multicultural counseling, supervision practices, leadership, counselor identity development, burnout prevention, and organizational wellness.

Through Providence Hill Counseling & Consulting and the Providence Hill Institute, which she co-founded with her husband, Robert Gibson, Dr. Gibson provides counseling, supervision, consultation, and training. Her unique blend of clinical expertise, academic scholarship, program leadership, and organizational development allows her to help individuals, leaders, and organizations build resilience, strengthen capacity, and thrive.
